NDCL Joins Bishop for Life March

Students and campus minister Sarah Reed joined representatives from all 20 high schools in the diocese for the annual Mass and March for Life on Oct. 26. Following Mass with Bishop Nelson Perez at Saint John Cathedral, the group marched with the bishop to Public Square, where many participants shared stories of the sacredness of all life.

Cross Country Team Advances

NDCL boys cross country team secured a bid for the state championship by finishing fifth in the Boardman regional meet on Oct. 28.

In a field of 160 runners, junior Augie King led the Lions with a 24th-place finish. Classmate Cal Yackin was right behind, finishing 25th. Sophomore David Beebe came in 35th. Sophomores Donny Gatto (74th), Harmond Richardson (83rd) and Brian Tuohey (102nd) and junior Tommy Shero (129th) contributed to the Lions’ strong showing.

The boys will run for the state crown at National Trail Raceway in Hebron on Nov. 4.

Alumni Serve the Community

NDCL alumni stepped up to serve at the Hospice of the Western Reserve’s David Simpson home on Oct. 28. The group of volunteers spent the morning setting up for a memorial service and cleaning the halls as well as the family kitchen and dining room.

“At NDCL, we were encouraged to go out and transform the world. This service day was just one way in which we give back to our local community to make that impact. It was also a tremendous opportunity to connect with other alumni who I would not have had the chance to meet. I came away with many personal and professional lessons from our shared experience,” said Christian Brandetsas `12.

The annual service day is organized by the NDCL Alumni Association, a group of alumni dedicated to continuing the mission of Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin through service and alumni engagement.
