Students Learns About Sustainability
Sixth-grade students trekked over 20 miles of preserved land at the Cuyahoga Valley Environmental Education Center during their overnight learning adventure at CVEEC on May 7-10.
CVEEC is a unique learning place that incorporates classroom instruction such as art, technology, science, math, social studies and language arts into a discovery-based program. Students were immersed in nature from the moment they stepped off the bus with hikes through the 500 acres of wilderness, performing and viewing environmental experiments, exploring animal behavior and habitation, participating in team building activities, songs and enjoying nutritious meals prepared from locally produced foods.
Through the award-winning program, “All the Rivers Run,” students encountered nature each day and discovered the importance of sustainable design and living practices. NDES is especially grateful to its teachers and volunteers for chaperoning the incredible experience.
7th-Graders Visit Pittsburgh
Seventh-graders set out on their daylong tour of Pittsburgh last week. In addition to the Just Ducky Tour, students began their day with a visit to University of Pittsburgh’s Cathedral of Learning and a tour of the Nationality Room. Afterwards, students explored the Science Center and Sports Works and spent some time at the Heinz History Museum. The full day concluded with dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe.

Congratulations to Jasper Sedayfor winning the guessing game, 389 pieces of gum in the jar. He won a four-pack of passes for Putt Putt at Chip’s Clubhouse.
Thank you to Mr. Dan and Mrs. Nicole Reel and their team of dads. grandfathers and even some moms for helping make the event possible for NDES moms and children.
