Edmentum – Exact Path
Exact Path gives students the opportunity to work on an individualized learning path. The scores that each student receives on his or her MAP tests are uploaded into the Exact Path system. An individualized learning path is then created specifically for each student.
Students can do their work in Exact Path in school as well as at home. Each student has his/her own log in and can access it from any iPad, computer or other device. The students work on lessons and achieve trophies for their efforts. Students, teachers and parents can access reports on their progress. Students have the opportunity to advance at their own pace when the time is right for them. Many students set individual goals for themselves and compete in friendly competitions with their classmates. For many students, it has made learning that may have been difficult, fun and entertaining.
Second-grader Hayden Ainicommented, “I like it because it can help you learn and you can do it on any touchscreen. It’s like you can travel anywhere and learn.”
“I like that it focuses on what I need,” says sixth-grader Andrew Downing.
Collaborative Learning in Math
Using the CPM math program, sixth-grade students in Mrs. Zink’s math classes have the opportunity to engage in problem-based lessons centered around a core idea each day. With their teacher as a guide, students collaborate to solve problems, practice skills and discover mathematical concepts. In such an environment, students gain confidence and learn to communicate their ideas as they develop deep conceptual understanding.
Veterans Day Cards
Students in Mrs. Montague and Mrs. DeRespiris’ enrichment classes have been busy making cards for our veterans. Students dictated the words on the cards and then wrote their names and illustrated the cards. They will be sending the cards to the men and women at the Louis Stokes VA Hospital in Cleveland. The words of encouragement and beautiful drawings are sure to make someone’s day on Veterans Day.
