Lion’s Day at Progressive Field
On May 13, over 260 NDS fans gathered on a beautiful sunny day at Progressive Field for the second annual Lion’s Day. Families, friends and NDCL/NDES alumni marched in the pre-game parade and cheered on the Tribe as they played the Minnesota Twins. The day was a big hit and a great way to kick off the summer.
Overnight Learning Adventure
Sixth-grade students trekked over 20 miles of preserved land at the Cuyahoga Valley Environmental Education Center during their overnight learning adventure May 8-11. CVEEC is a unique learning place where a discovery-based program incorporates classroom instruction in art, technology, science, math, social studies and language arts.
Students were immersed in nature from the moment they arrived. Activities included hikes through 500 acres of wilderness, performing and viewing environmental experiments, exploring animal behavior and habitation, participating in team building activities, songs and enjoying nutritious meals prepared from locally produced foods.
Each day the boys and girls discovered their important role and responsibility to each other and the world around them. The theme was reinforced in one of the many camp songs “All the Rivers Run.”
