Friday Morning Broadcasts

This semester, seventh- and eighth-grade students in the morning news elective have been preparing for Friday morning broadcasts. Students prepare one week in advance to research, write and record the news by Wednesday afternoons. The recordings are then edited by two students and submitted for final approval by Mr. Martin.

Once approved, the recordings are sent to all the teachers on Friday mornings to broadcast in their classrooms. News topics include school events, sports, weather, current events, the week ahead, the week in review and a special segment where two anchors visit a classroom to highlight all the wonderful teaching practices and activities happening at NDES.

Students have been working very hard to get this broadcast up and running. The first broadcast is scheduled to air March 22.

Read Across America

Kindergarten students celebrated Read Across America Day on March 1. They dressed as their favorite book characters and shared their favorite books with the class.

Daily Dose of Reading

The Daily Dose of Reading Book Drive was a huge success. Mrs. Biro’s class collected the most books with 410. NDES collected nearly 1,900 books this year. Mrs. Biro’s class will be treated to a pizza party courtesy of the Morrison and Marziani families.

Father Daughter Dance

On March 3, NDES girls from preschool through eighth-grade enjoyed a memorable afternoon with their fathers. Everyone enjoyed dancing, games, face painting and a delicious lunch. A special thank you to Mrs. Alissa Effner and Mrs. Tammy Burnette as well as their team of volunteers and the Notre Dame Parent Association for making the Father Daughter Dance so wonderful.
