Students Visit Play House Square

NDES junior high students in Mrs. Mery Tomsick’s music class were transported to Paris in the 1480s through the musical adaptation of Victor Hugo’s “Hunchback of Notre Dame.” The play unfolds the story of a sensitive, innocent, deformed man named Quasimodo. It showcases his journey as he struggles to face the prejudices of the church and his feelings for the gypsy, Esmeralda.

On the same day, Mrs. Wachob and Mrs. Looman’s kindergarten classes stepped into the magical animated wonderland of the Grimm Brothers Fairy Tale, “Hansel And Gretel.” This humorous version of the fable featured the adventures of Hansel and Gretel to lively rock and roll tunes.

Ohio Farming: Past and Present

NDES recognizes and utilizes the educational experiences Lake Farm Park has to offer and takes opportunities to bring the classroom to life with the park’s programs. This past week, NDES fourth-grade students in Mr. Steve Cavolo, Mrs. Colleen DiSanto and Ms. Matteo’s social studies classes spent a day at Lake Farm Park learning how Native Americans used environmental resources to build their culture.

In addition, first-grade students in Mrs. Kathy Biro and Mrs. Rachel Gardner’s classes visited Lake Farm Park to examine the basic needs of farm animals, investigate how much the animals eat and observe the making of horseshoes.

NDES Halloween

On Oct. 26, NDES Student Council sponsored a Fall Fest for students in grades K-8. Throughout the day, friendship partners joined together to paint and decorate pumpkins. A special thank you goes to Miss. Kayla O’Brien for coordinating the fun activity and Delores Butter at Mulberry Corners in Chester Township for providing the school with pumpkins at a discounted rate.
