Eighth-Grade Lion Encounter
While Veterans Day provided a day away from school for many area students, NDCL invited eighth-graders from Communion of Saints and Ss. Robert and William schools to participate in “Lion Encounter,” a leadership retreat. Together the high school and grade school students enjoyed activities that taught and reinforced NDCL’s core values: Justice, Respect, Integrity, Community and Excellence.
Students Participate in Close Up
Eleven NDCL students were literally in the eye of political storm during the presidential election week as they traveled to Washington, D.C., to participate in Close Up, a program that gives young people an insider’s view of the people, processes and places of our nation’s capital. Participants included seniors John Delahunty, Marisa Herman, David Prots, Danny Takacs, Jacqi Gardner, Abby Kowalczyk, Mark Beebe and Grace Krieger; juniors Halle Sarkisian and Jessica Iacco; and sophomore Anna Egensperger. Social studies teacher Bill Scott accompanied the group.
