On Board for Semester Exams

Using the theme of a train ride, NDCL’s Polar Express to Academic Success featured a series of sessions, or “whistle stops,” to assist ninth-graders in preparing for semester exams.  Sessions included: time management and calendar planning, test-prep strategies, test-taking skills and content help in various subjects.

Bio Medical Symposium

The patients may have been fictitious, but the enthusiasm for learning was both real and contagious as students, educators, medical professionals and parents gathered in the Sisters of Notre Dame Learning Commons Thursday night for NDCL’s first-ever Biomedical Symposium.

Students in the new biomedical studies course transformed the Learning Commons into a showcase of medical inquiry. Working in pairs, students shared the symptoms, medical histories and diagnoses of the patients they have been “treating” for much of first semester.

Science teachers Nathan Smith and Rebecca Weinfurtner coordinated the event with the professional assistance of Dr. Janet Poponick ’77, medical consultant for the course.
