Living the Truth in Love Award
President Sr. Jacquelyn Gusdane and Principal Joseph A. Waler recently presented the Living the Truth in Love Award to 16 students who exemplify the mission of Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin School.
Seniors Alexis Bruno, David Kozan, Tommy Laffey and Sarah Zakrajsek were honored during the Senior Honors Ceremony on May 9.
Juniors Matthew Fazio, Billy Martin, Morgan Uveges and Leah Walsh, sophomores Hailey Oppenlander, Bayley Stefanek, Matt Tuohey and Jenna Vanek, and freshmen Julia Baitt, Andrew Kresic, Kristijana Sesar and Brendan Welsh were recognized before the student body on May 20.
Each year, faculty members nominate students for the Living the Truth in Love Award, which is the highest honor NDCL presents to any student. A selection committee chooses four students of each grade from nominations submitted by teachers, counselors, and administrators. Award recipients’ photos hang in the school’s main corridor for a year.
Sophomores Place in Math Video Contest
NDCL sophomores Dan Bosworth and Greg Owendoff earned fourth place and $300 in a national video contest sponsored by Mu Alpha Theta, the mathematics honor society. Their “Down with Pi” video challenges the commonly accepted mathematical use of the number pi (3.14159265 …) to relate the circumference of a circle to its linear dimension. Instead, they advocate the use of tau, which is two times pi.
