Middle School Tailgate
The Notre Dame Parents Association planned a tailgate event for the middle school students. Mrs. Dulzer and Mrs. Blankenship chaired the event. Approximately 130 middle school students attended the event, with at least 35 parent volunteers helping. It was a great night with the middle school students showing their spirit and enthusiasm.
Amazing Animals Elective
The middle school students in the Amazing Animals elective witnessed just how amazing an animal can be. Mrs. Betsy Dunn and Ms. Suzan Bocciarelli gave a highly informative presentation about their work with The Guiding Eyes for the Blind Program. Gadget, a 14-month-old labrador retriever, also attended the program dressed in his future guide dog vest.
Students learned about the training process, including how to greet a future guide dog in a manner that reinforces patience. They also witnessed how Gadget loves to play “fetch” when he’s not in training. We are so thankful for the work done by the staff at Guiding Eyes for the Blind to give the gift of companionship and joy to those with vision loss.
Read a Book to the Principal
Great behavior in Mrs. Montague’s second-grade class is rewarded by children earning prize passes. Some children will choose no homework or write in gel pen for the day, but last week, four children chose to read a book to the principal. Dr. Hoynes had the opportunity to listen to some great readers.
