NDCL Marching Band Visits
On Aug. 29, Mr. Adam Pysell and members of the NDCL marching band visited with the fifth- and sixth-grade classes for an instrument presentation. Along with Mrs. Stampfer, members of the NDCL band demonstrated the different members of the instrument families, giving short performances on the instruments and explaining how to play each one.
The students were then treated to group performances of many of their marching band tunes. It was almost like a pep rally for band.
Thomas Edison Award for Excellence
Notre Dame Elementary School is once again proudly recognized by the Ohio Academy of Science with the Governor’s Thomas Edison Award for Excellence in STEM Education and Student Research. Criteria included conducting a local science fair, sending qualifying students to the Ohio District Science Day and student involvement in STEM-related activities beyond the school level.
Students at NDES have the opportunity to participate in many STEM related activities above and beyond the classroom, including Lego Robotics, Destination Imagination, Science Olympiad and a variety of math competitions. In and out of the classroom, students are inspired to solve problems collaboratively, think critically, communicate their findings and develop leadership skills.
