Catholic School’s Week
From crazy hair day, cozy day, student appreciation day to patriotic day, St Helen School knows how to celebrate Catholic School’s Week. Catholic School’s Week is a way for students and families to celebrate all the opportunities that going to a Catholic school offers. The week of festivities ended with a family fun night at Alpine Valley Ski Resort. The week may have come to a close, but the blessings last all year long.
Students Study Iconography
The sixth- and seventh-grade students have been studying the ancient art of iconography in art class. This type of sacred art has roots going as far back as the first apostles. Christian tradition tells of St. Luke the Evangelist being the first iconographer.
Students start each class with a special prayer and asks God’s guiding hand throughout the painting process. The image depicted calls its viewers, as well as the artists who create them, to a closer relationship with Christ. The beautiful paintings become windows to heaven.
