Eighth-graders Kerry Kelly, Emily Flauto and Isabella Miraglia received the Public Speaking Excellence Award at the St Helen chapter of the Modern Woodmen Speech Competition.

Speech Accolades

Eighth-graders Kerry Kelly, Emily Flauto and Isabella Miraglia received the Public Speaking Excellence Award at the St Helen chapter of the Modern Woodmen Speech Competition. The competition is designed to help students develop skills in clear thinking and public speaking in preparation for their future. They will go on to present their speeches at St. Mary School in Chardon on April 11.

Students Compete At Science Fair

Several St. Helen junior high school students participated in the Northeastern Ohio Science and Engineering Fair at Cleveland State University on March 15.

Awards received include: Honorable mentions – Paige Fisher and Brian Taylor; third place – Taylor Dawson and Vince Dimora; and second place – Joslyn Borah, Julia Carter, Hartley Heiss, Andrew Joyce, Isabella Miraglia and Rachel O’Reilly. Winning the Broadmasters award and a chance to compete on a state level are Julia Carter, Hartley Heiss and Isabella Miraglia.

With over $900 in awards from the American Chemical Society, the Cleveland Clinic, John Carroll University, The U.S. Navy and Marine Corps, to say the school community is proud of them is an understatement.
