Spirit and Service Squad

St. Helen School’s seventh- and eighth-grade Spirit and Service Squad headed up by their eighth-grade teacher Melissa Joyce, seventh-grade teacher David Woodruff and physical education teacher Amy Hotchkiss spent December through February collecting materials for Cleveland’s homeless.

In December, they collected personal hygiene items and assembled 200 1 gallon sized bags to donate. In February, they collected food items to make 400 personally decorated breakfast bags to hand out. The bags were then taken to St. Paschal Baylon by Sister Sandy Nativio who started this project in 2012.

Many thanks to the families of St. Helen School for their generous donations and St. Paschal Baylon’s Helping Hands Ministry. The bags were distributed to inner city churches and were greatly appreciated by the recipients.

Preschoolers Make Maple Syrup

Preschool students, along with teacher Johnna Bosansky and teaching assistant Julie Whitely, went on their annual field trip to Swine Creek. There, students got a hands-on lesson on how maple syrup is made. They also got to enjoy some sweet treats.
