All for Books Challenge
St. Mary Chardon’s Student Council collected, counted and wrapped over $1,065 for the “All for Books” Scholastic book challenge. Mrs. Tracy’s fourth-grade class won the classroom competition, earning a school pennant and a new book for their classroom library. The money raised will be used to buy books to send to the school’s Christmas Toy Drive benefitting “Toys for Appalachia.” Scholastic book company will match what was raised to give books to the less fortunate.
Corn Maze Design Challenge
Fourth- and fifth-graders took on a corn maze design challenge. They were challenged to design a maze that a marble could get out of without using their hands to manipulate it. In addition, the teams wrote a persuasive jingle to get people to come to their maze.
