Happy New Year!

Mrs. Passow’s kindergarten class spent time talking about New Year’s traditions after the students returned to school.

They rang in the New Year with a countdown and a balloon drop. Each balloon had a sight word. The students popped the balloons and read the sight word inside. Students talked about the things they did in their own homes to ring in the New Year then graphed to see how many stayed up till midnight or who went to bed.

Students each hypothesized if their New Year’s ball replica would drop down yarn or ribbon faster. They shared great reasons for thoughts and then tested the hypothesis and enjoyed their New Year’s experiments.

Seventh-Graders Start AHSM

St. Mary Chardon seventh-graders started the Adventures in Heath Sciences and Medicine (AHSM) through the Cleveland Clinic following break.

Each Wednesday morning for the next several weeks students will meet via webinar to learn about the steps that medical professionals take in diagnosing patients.

This week students worked on making a model of blood and learning how samples are processed in the hospital.
