NHS Seeks Veterans

The National Honor Society chapter at West Geauga Local Schools is working to identify and recognize West Geauga graduates who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces, as well as current students and families with military connections. The effort is part of the district’s work toward earning an Ohio Purple Star designation and expanding its recognition and support of veterans, service members and military-connected families throughout the West Geauga community.

West Geauga graduates who served, those submitting information on behalf of a graduate and current families with a military connection are asked to complete the form on the district website, westg.org. Information collected may be used to support military families and recognize veterans and service members through school displays, Veterans Day activities, family outreach, alumni outreach and future recognition events.

Halloween Hangout

The West Geauga High School National Honor Society invites the community to its annual Halloween Hangout from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29. The family-friendly event features indoor trick-or-treating throughout the halls of the high school, games and more.

Relay for Life Tops Goal

West Geauga High School recently hosted a Relay for Life in support of the American Cancer Society. Through the dedication and hard work of students, the event brought the community together and raised more than $13,400, surpassing its fundraising goal, to celebrate cancer survivors, remember those who have been lost and support those currently facing cancer.

Community support helped make the event a success and gave West Geauga a meaningful way to give back.

Five Named to Honors Choir

Five West Geauga High School students were selected to participate in the Ohio Music Education Association District 4 and 7 Honors Choir: Capri Burch, Hayden Makuch, Naomi Martinez, Molly Moidell and Charlotte Speyer.

Representing West Geauga among vocalists from more than 30 area high schools, the students joined regional ensembles to collaborate, learn and perform alongside some of the area’s most accomplished young singers. They worked under the direction of university-level and professional guest conductors and, following intensive rehearsals, performed in a culminating concert at Cleveland State University.
