Students Experience STEM
Seventh-grade students at West Geauga Middle School spent time learning how to use STEM problem solving models to complete a project. For the project, the students were asked to design and create a machine to launch a projectile following a specific set of criteria. Students then demonstrated to the class and measured the results.
The project is part of the ongoing STEM curriculum in the district, implemented to prepare middle school students for the rigors of high school science and math.
Local Author Visits
Author and Chester Township resident Mary C. Ryan recently visited Westwood Elementary School to share her love of storytelling and spend time with students.
During her visit, she read excerpts from her books, answered students‘ questions and autographed students‘ copies of her work.
As part of the activities, Westwood students, families and staff all read Ryan’s book, “The Secret Day in the West Woods,” and participated in weeklong activities related to the book.
