First-Graders Experience STEM
First-grade students at Lindsey Elementary School have been working on STEM skills that will help them throughout their West Geauga education. They were given time to explore some of the different STEM materials they used this year in a station format.
Instructor Sandy Razzante said, “Students were able to choose from five activities that we did over the year. These students are using Keva planks to build a tower. They worked together cooperatively using their knowledge of balance, design and gravity. The other activities going on in the room were Legos, Picasso Tiles, coding and Dash the Robot.”
Students Practice Writing
At Lindsey Elementary School, writing practice took center stage in Mrs. Howell’s third-grade class as the students worked on a project together.Literacy is a major focus in both elementary schools, where new curricula have been added in the last few years.
Additional teachers, teaching coaches and curriculum options have been added to ensure that every West Geauga student gets a solid foundation in language arts prior to entering the middle school.
