While many teachers were enjoying spring break, Westwood Elementary kindergarten teachers Bradley Kidwell and Mary Beth Alley were loading horse manure at Superintendent Rich Markwardt's farm to fertilize the school's butterfly garden.

While many teachers were enjoying spring break, Westwood Elementary kindergarten teachers Bradley Kidwell and Mary Beth Alley were loading horse manure at Superintendent Rich Markwardt’s farm to fertilize the school’s butterfly garden.

Fortunately for them, Dr. Markwardt’s John Deere has a front-end loader to make the job easier. Unfortunately for them, Dr. Markwardt and his tractor were not at Westwood to help the pair unload their “cargo.” They did that the old fashioned way — with a shovel.

 

Senior Citizens Recognition Dinner

The 27th annual West Geauga Senior Citizens Recognition Dinner will be held May 10 at 4:30 p.m. in the West Geauga Middle School Cafeteria, 8611 Cedar Road.

Sponsored by West Geauga Schools and The Rotary Club of Chesterland, the evening promises to be both enjoyable and full of welcoming faces.

At this year’s dinner, Geauga County Educational Service Center Superintendent Jennifer Felker will be welcomed.
