West G Advanced Placement
Advanced Placement (AP) Chemistry students Richard Kirk and John Wenger learn the technique of vacuum filtration in order to determine the empirical formula of a copper compound. AP Chemistry is one of 21 AP courses in which West Geauga students can earn college credit while in high school without leaving the high school building.
Elementary Math Exploration
Math at the elementary level has been refreshed with the adoption of Bridges by the Board of Education late this summer. The program was one of three considered and was highly supported by the entire math committee with representation from all elementary grade levels.
The program is comprised of three main components: Problems and Investigations, Work Places and Number Corner. There are opportunities each day for whole group instruction and collaborative learning while students continue to gain reinforcement of previous skills.
Facing mathematical challenges through problem solving and reasonable solutions is a cornerstone of the series. West Geauga is excited and looking forward to sharing all of the experiences the students have in math this year.
