All township meetings are open to the public and residents are encouraged to attend.

Zoning

Zoning Inspector Frank S Corrao III wishes to remind all residents to obtain a zoning permit prior to making any construction changes of any kind. He may be reached at 440-636-5486, ext. 3. Leave a message and he will return the call.

Cemetery

It is unfortunate the levy failed for the cemetery. There are several old foundations and gravestones that are in need of repair in the Pioneer Cemetery and the north section of the Center Cemetery. Trustees welcome comments from voters as to why the levy was defeated.

Totem Pole

The totem pole was carved using a chain saw only by Matt Hannah, The Insane Chain, during the Pumpkin Festival. Donations were received from The Pumpkin Festival Committee, Huntsburg Historical Society and Huntsburg Grange as well as donations received during the festival.

Mr. Hannah will paint the totem pole and a Huntsburg resident has offered to pay for the painting. Thank you to all who donated for the project. To anyone who would like to donate to the project, there is still time and more work to be done in landscaping around the pole.

Thank You, Voters

Trustees Jon Hunter, Eric Peck and Nancy Saunders are thankful to the voters for their support in retaining them as Huntsburg’s trustees. They will continue to work for the community as public servants.  Each is available to hear any and all concerns residents may have.

Property Hunting Regulations

Hunting is strictly forbidden on Huntsburg Township properties. There have been hunters shooting at wildlife in the recreational park during hours the park is being enjoyed by others and maintained by township employees. Hunting violations will be referred to the game warden and prosecution may be involved.

Mailboxes

The township policy on replacing mailboxes is only to replace boxes that have been struck by the plow or truck. Mailboxes that go down due to heavy snow will not be replaced.

Boxes are replaced with an inexpensive, simple type box only.  Please consult the postmaster for regulation regarding the installation of a mailbox.

Clean Out Driveway Culverts

Landowners have the responsibility to keep their driveway culvert clean and free of debris. The biggest assistance a resident can be to the township is to make sure one’s driveway culvert is clean.  Cleaning out the culvert will allow for the continuous flow of water through the ditches and will aid to control flooding and road erosion.
