Hello from Geauga County Amish Country
It was a beautiful morning on April 2 with the sun shining and a cover of snow.
It was a beautiful morning on April 2 with the sun shining and a cover of snow. Maybe it will be our last for the spring.
The birds are busy at the feeders again. Every once in a while I have to chase away those greedy starlings. They are not my most favorite birds.
On March 26, I went to the funeral of cousin Tillie’s husband, Abe Miller, in Punxsutawney, Pa. Sisters Liz and Sylvia and my niece Sam Ruth and Marion Clara also attended, coming from Mio, Mich. They then spent the night here at niece Ellen Hershberger’s.
On March 27, we sisters and nieces were at sister Fannie and Mel Yoder’s for Mel’s 91st birthday. Also there were Mel’s daughter Ada and Jr. Miller, David and Mary Ellen Mast and Owen and Ella Yoder, all of Troutville, Pa. Mel hasn’t been feeling well for quite sometime. He is mostly housebound.
When the Mio folks left for home on the afternoon of March 27, I went along to spend the week with daughter Betty and Melvin’s family. The evening of March 29, son Joe, Saloma and two girls, son Richard, Sue and seven children came to Melvin’s until the afternoon of March 31. When we left for home, they were having a snowstorm, but we soon drove out of it.
On April 4, I am expecting sister Emma Weaver and several daughters to come visit along with some of my nieces from Pennsylvania. We hope to visit sister Elmina in her new home. She has now moved to her granddaughter Nelson and Linda Miller’s on Ensign Road.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Tobe Stoltzfus family, as they planned to amputate his leg on April 2. He has had two knee surgeries followed with many infections. He is in Cleveland University Hospitals.
Also in University Hospitals is Wally J. Byler after having a large abscess removed from his lungs. We wish them both better days ahead.
On Monday morning, daughter Sylvia, daughter-in-law Rich Sue and I stopped in at the new Heritage Meat Store located where the Chinese Dragon used to be. They have a full line deli and will be adding more as time goes on. They will also do custom meat cutting, so stop in and check it out.
I have received my first wedding invitation for this year. Aaron Yoder and Amanda Fisher plan to be married on April 24. The parents are Vernon and Nancy Yoder and Mervin and Cindy Fisher. The wedding will be at 3770 Rice Road. So, wedding season has started.
