Food Service News
Chardon’s school breakfast program is now being offered at the elementary schools this year. They are serving a tasty, nutritious breakfast every morning. Breakfast is served in the cafeteria before school and immediately after the bell rings. Students are able to select an entrée, fruit or juice and milk. Breakfast menus are available at on the Park and Munson school homepages.
Breakfast is an important meal for all students and the school district wants to make everyone aware that it is served daily to all students in the schools. Research has tied eating breakfast to improvements in both academic achievement and behavior modification. The research finds that students are better able to concentrate and learn, and have lower rates of tardiness and absenteeism. It essentially points out that it is more difficult for hungry kids to learn.
The breakfast program is intended to help parents. With more moms and dads leaving in the morning to go to work, the school breakfast program can be beneficial in easing the hustle and bustle at home. The meals that are served are intended to be convenient and nutritious.
The district encourages parents to take advantage of the meal programs it has available for all of its students.
Cost is: paid breakfast, $1.25; reduced-price breakfast for eligible families, 30 cents; and free breakfast for eligible families.
