The Geauga County Department on Aging will offer a free traditional meal to any Geauga County seniors, age 60 and older, who will be home and alone on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22, and/or Christmas Day, Dec. 25.

Senior Center Events

  • Blood Pressure Screenings: Mondays, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Free screenings provided by Geauga Health Department.
  • Geauga Parks: Nov. 15, 1-2:30 p.m. Geauga Park District presents “Land of Lakes and Legends” at the West Woods Nature Center.Attend an illustrated program using vintage postcards, photographs and silent movie clips while following the adventures of a Cleveland family vacationing in Geauga in the 1910s, prior to the establishment of park systems. Refreshments provided. RSVP by Nov. 13.

  • Chair Exercises: Monday through Friday at 9:15-10 a.m.Class, combines stretching, cardio and resistance bands.
  • Winter Readiness: Nov. 14, 10:30 a.m. The Department on Aging’s Bob Debevits will present how to “Get Your House Winter Ready.”

  • Winter Safety Program: Nov. 13, 12:30-1:15 p.m. Cardinal Physical Therapy will teach seniors about staying safe during the cold winter months.
  • Hospital Admission Status” Nov. 20, 11 a.m. to noon. University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center will discuss the differences regarding observation status and admission status and timeframes in regards to Medicare.

• Monthly Movie: Nov. 13, 12:45 p.m. Watch “Planes, Trains, and Automobiles,” starring Steve Martin and John Candy, at the senior center. Call for reservations.

• Craft Club: Nov. 15, 12:30 p.m. Join for iris folding. Cost is $1.50 per card. Call for reservations.

Home Delivered Holiday Meals

The Geauga County Department on Aging will offer a free traditional meal to any Geauga County seniors, age 60 and older, who will be home and alone on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22, and/or Christmas Day, Dec. 25.

There will be no regular Home Delivered Meal delivery or congregate meals on Nov. 22 or Dec. 25. Instead, holiday meals are available by preorder only.

Thanksgiving Meal requests for Thanksgiving are due by Nov. 12 and for Christmas by Dec. 17.
