Kenston Speech and Debate novices competed at Vermilion while a few veterans went to John F. Kennedy High School in Warren.

Kenston Speech and Debate novices competed at Vermilion while a few veterans went to John F. Kennedy High School in Warren.

At Vermilion, Frank Hegedus took first place in Declamation. Placing second in their events were Cadie Matty in Congressional Debate, Valerie Brown in Declamation and Nya Ku in Original Oratory.

At John F. Kennedy, Laura Parsons placed second in Original Oratory. Okan Kardzhala, Marcus Novak and Delaney Bochenek all won two out of their three debates.

Auburn and Bainbridge residents over the age of 60 are invited to a special dress rehearsal performance of “Suite Surrender” Nov. 8. Seniors are invited to a dessert reception with music provided by the Garretttones at 6:15 p.m. followed by the play at 7:30 p.m. Call 440-543-9677 to make your reservations.

Center Stage Presents…

Showtimes for the Kenston Center Stage production of “Suite Surrender” are Nov. 9 an 10 at 7 p.m. and Nov. 11 at 2 p.m. in the KHS Robert A. Lee Auditorium.

Note: In the event, the football team receives a playoff bid for Friday evening, Friday night’s performance will run at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10.

KIS Students of the Month

Kenston Intermediate School is pleased to announce their Students of the Month for October.

Students selected for Student of the Month “Respect” honors were fourth-graders Matthew Collins, Grace England, Porter Fontana, Gracie Fouse, Charlie Lewis, Lyla Mulheman, Caden Russell, Lauren Schafer, Jodi Sell and Anthony Soltis; and fifth-graders Avari Amstutz, Ralph Asher, Lauren Bayus, Daunte’via Cable, Georgia Clark. Ally English, Ethan McClellan, William Radefeld, Robert Sopis and Sam Westervelt.

Career Awareness Day

Kenston Middle School eighth-graders participated in a daylong Career Awareness field trip sponsored by Geauga Growth Partnership. They visited at local businesses, talked with employers and employees, learned about job options, skill sets and education requirements for different professions.

This learning opportunity is geared toward developing awareness for diverse job/career options and preparation to select an education path. Thank you to University Hospitals, R43 Limited, Geauga Mechanical Company, Arborwear and ASM International.
