CMS Talks

Chardon Middle School is proud to partner with Ravenwood Health to bring a new miniseries to CMS for parents and guardians. Beginning in January, CMS will host three separate talks focused on giving parents support, encouragement and strategies to help their students with common teen challenges, including anxiety and disorganization.

Mark the following dates on calendars and plan to join to learn new ways to care for and support students. All sessions will be at 6:30 p.m.: Jan. 17 – Clean Out the Clutter: Steps to Organization Strategies; Feb. 19 – Teen Anxiety: How to Recognize It and What to do about It; and March 14 – The Road to Resilience: Steps to Success for Students.

Questions? Contact Karin Hillman, the seventh-grade school counselor, at karin.hillman@chardonschools.org.

New Club at CMS

Chardon Middle School is beginning to recruit students interested in its new MathCounts team. MathCounts is a national organization focusing on engaging students in math through friendly competition. There are school, regional, state and national competitions.

While only students in grades six through eight can compete, students in grades four through seven are encouraged to get involved and prepare for competition in future years.

For more information, email CMS math teacher bob.francis@chardonschools.org.

Holiday Shopping

It’s a favorite time of year for Chardon elementary students when they get to Christmas shop on their own for their family members at the PTO sponsored holiday shops. Park School’s Sugar Plum Shop and Munson’s Candy Cane Shop were both doing a brisk business last week. Thank you to PTO volunteers and the local crafters and other participating vendors who offer inexpensive, fun items for children to purchase.

Winter Break

Winter break for Chardon Schools begins Dec. 21. Classes resume on Jan. 3.

Merry Christmas, happy holidays and happy New Year to all.
