At the most recent West Geauga Board of Education meeting, the board members Ben Kotowski, Dr. Bill Beers, Kathy Leavenworth, Dan Thoreson, and Chet Ramey were recognized for their participation in directing the schools.
“The board of education serves a critical role in offering our students, staff and community the benefits of a high-quality education. We appreciate the Board members’ sacrifices of time and effort,” said Superintendent Rich Markwardt.
Community members, staff and students were present to enjoy refreshments as a way to thank the West Geauga Board of Education for its dedicated service to students. Custom cookies with the West Geauga School’s branding were created by local company Theresa’s Joy-Filled Delights for the celebration.
Art Students Recognized
Each year, the West Geauga Board Office selects student artwork to add to the office decor.At the Jan. 22 board meeting, students whose work was placed in the board office were recognized by community members and staff.
The selected artwork will stay in place for the remainder of the school year.
Students Place in NASA Competition
West Geauga’s Eileen Faulk and Rosie Fahey captured second place in NASA Glenn Research Center’s 2018 National Microgravity Expulsion from Water Experiments Challenge.
Their work earned them an invitation to present at the American Society for Gravitational and Space Research (ASGSR) Conference in Washington, D.C., where they presented their results alongside other high school, college and graduate students and professionals in the field.
West Geauga’s second place win was one of only two schools to be selected from Ohio. The other winners were from Virginia and California.
Rosie and Eileen’s accomplishment was recognized as part of the Jan. 22 board of education meeting.
