Hello from Geauga Amish Crossing Corner,
It was a beautiful morning on Friday, March 1. The sun was shining so nice, but it was still a little cold. Spring is right around the corner, I hope.
It was so beautiful out that I was hoping to wash off some dirty windows, especially on the outside. The snow really makes them dirty.
I have had a busy week. On Monday, Feb. 25, I helped out at the Sunshine Training Center. On Tuesday, I visited sister Fannie Yoder, and Wednesday, I was at Sunny Hope School. On Thursday, granddaughter Rosanna and Aden Troyer moved into where we used to live, on the corner of Shedd Road. Bob and Sylvia Hershberger moved out on Wednesday and moved east of Middlefield on state Route 87. We will miss Bobs in the neighborhood.
The community was shocked to hear of the passing of a good friend, Bill Stutzman, of Nauvoo Road on Feb. 11. He was found in bed and life was gone. He had not been feeling well for quite some time with heart issues. He will be greatly missed in the community.
Quite a few local folks are spending time in Florida at present. If plans hold out, son Ray and their daughter Maria and I have plans to also leave for there on March 11. We plan to travel down on Amtrak. We expect to stay around two weeks.
There was a benefit breakfast for Orwell Parochial School on March 2 at Milo Mulletts on Penniman Road. I attended along with some of my family.
The evening of March 8, there will be a benefit auction at the Middlefield Sale Barn for Sunny Acres Special Needs School. There will be a silent and live auction and raffle. Guests will also be able to get carryouts.
I talked with daughter Betty in Mio, Mich., the morning of March 1. It was 8 degrees there and they still have around 2 feet of snow on the level.
It will soon be time to think of spring cleaning and seeing the spring flowers pop up. Then, the spring plowing will begin and gardens ready to plant. I am ready for spring.
Chuckles
Ramblings of a Retired Mind: When people see a cat’s litter box, they always say, “Oh, have you got a cat?” Just once, I want to say, “No, it’s for company.”
Employment application “blanks” always ask who is to be called in case of emergency. I think you should write, “An ambulance.”
You know you’re getting old when everything either dries up or leaks.
Thought to Ponder On: A well chosen word can speak volumes.
The city of happiness is in the state of mind.
You all have a good week. Stay warm and think spring.
