Breeders-n-Feeders
Breeders–n-Feeders is one of the largest 4-H groups in Geauga County, with 60 members and eight advisors. The project list that is offered from the club is a big one that includes market beef, market swine, market goat, market poultry, market rabbits, as well as pet and breeding projects.
Breeders-n-Feeders had over 90 entries in the 2018 Great Geauga County Fair. These projects teach our members responsibility and dedication as well as keeping them very busy during the summer months.
The club held its May meeting at the Huntsburg Community Center. The normal meeting stuff was handled such as attendance and treasury report. The club made a large donation to the Red Tulip Project. Members also delivered Easter eggs to the residents at Maplewood at Chardon in April.
Breeders-n-Feeders will be collecting food for the Geauga Food Drive at its next meeting on June 30 at the Munson Town Hall. Breeders-N-Feeders also wish the best of luck to members Garrett and Leah running for fair king and queen.
Members are in full swing with their market projects. Many spend hours and hours working with their animals. Market beef is an 11 month project, market goat and swine is a five month project, market turkey is a four and one-half month project, ducks and rabbits are a two and one-half month project, and chickens are an eight week project. All members put in a lot of time and dedication to their projects.
I urge all of the community to come and support all project members at this year’s market auction on Aug. 31 at the Geauga County Fairgrounds. (Submitted by Morgan Csontos, news reporter)
