Hello from Geauga County Amish Country
It was cloudy on Monday morning, looking and feeling like it could rain.
It was cloudy on Monday morning, looking and feeling like it could rain.
The wedding of grandson James, son of Philip Millers, and Carolyn, daughter of Rueben and Miriam Byler, was held Sept. 19. They had a beautiful day. The food was delicious and I enjoyed visiting with friends and relatives. It was a very enjoyable day.
On Oct. 1 is to be the wedding of Wayne, brother of James who married last week, and Miriam, daughter of Larry and Barbara Yoder of Shedd Road. They will live in back of where her parents live. And James and Carolyn will live close to where her folks live. They are fixing up a place they bought.
Noah Yutzy Jr. fell at work several weeks ago and broke both legs. He had to have surgery on one and will be laid up for a long time. They live at 17050 Nash Road, Middlefield, OH 44062, in case anyone would want to send him a line of cheer.
The morning of Sept. 16, sons Joe and Saloma, Richard and Sue, Ray and Judy, Mark and Fan and two little boys, Wayne and Judy, Philip and Martha, daughter Sylvia and Dan and I went to what is called The Shack. We went as an early birthday surprise for daughter Betty. Betty and Melvin live in Mio, Mich., and they joined us there. The Shack is located in Jugville, close to Newaygo, Mich. It is a beautiful retreat, with beautiful flowerbeds, and nestled in 100 acres of woods on the banks of lovely Robinson Lake. There are activities, which include hiking, fishing, swimming, riding paddleboats or just relaxing on the many patios and covered porch. The rooms are beautiful and each evening at 8 p.m. they serve banana splits. You can add your own toppings. We only stayed for one night. Maybe sometime we can go for a longer time.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of Emanual Hershberger and Mel Detweiler, as both men are dealing with many health issues. Both have had several surgeries.
Thursday, Sept. 26 is to be the wedding at Albert and Ellen Detweiler’s of their daughter Maria and Daniel, son of Adam and Leah Byler. I hope to attend. On Tuesday, Oct. 8 is the wedding of grandson Allen Ray, son of Ray and Judy Miller, and Marci, daughter of Dan and Betsy Gingerich of Madison Road. That will make two granddaughters and three grandsons getting married this year.
Joe’s Window Shop has been sold to D. & S. Doors. They will only be selling slider windows and not house windows.
There will be a benefit auction the evening of Oct. 4 at the former Joe’s Window Shop to help a needy family with medical expenses. We will serve barbecue chicken, hot dogs, fries, salad, fruit, ice cream and pie, Sundays, root beer floats and drinks. Everyone is welcome. There will also be a live and silent auction. We are located on the corner of Shedd Road and state Route 168.
Chuckle
A man falls down a flight of stairs and someone rushes over to him and asks, “Did you miss a step?”
“No,” he answers. “I hit every one of them.”
Funny how thrilled some folks are when the baseball game goes extra innings, but then complain when the sermon is longer than usual.
You all have a good week.
