Backcountry Hikes

Nov. 2 and 10

Geauga Park District has some great backcountry hikes lined up in November, offering rare access to some great preserved properties. Registration is required for both.

On Nov. 2, come to The West Woods at 1 p.m. to be transported by van with a naturalist to the site of a local privately preserved property to discover wildlife and learn the importance of preserved lands with Pete McDonald of the Western Reserve Land Conservancy.

Then, on Nov. 10, from 12:30-3:30 p.m., come to The Rookery to check out its seldom visited preserve area during a four-mile, on-and-off-trail adventure on rugged, potentially wet terrain.

Both hikes will be rain or shine, so dress for the weather and wear sturdy footwear
