Help for Mental Illness
Geauga County National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) offers free support groups for those affected by mental illness.
Programs meet at the NAMI Geauga office located at 8389 Mayfield Road, Suite A-2 in Chester Township, unless otherwise noted.
Connection Peer Support provides a confidential and safe support for adults living with mental health conditions. One group meets Tuesdays from 7-8:30 p.m. in Chester Township. A second group meets Wednesdays from 7-8:30 p.m. at the former Jordak Elementary School building located at 16000 E. High St. in Middlefield.
Family Support Group, which meets on Tuesdays from 7-8:30 p.m., provides confidential support for adults with loved ones living with a mental health diagnosis.
Growth Through Grief support group for adults 18 and older is designed to guide loved ones on their journey to find hope and healing after suicide and other traumatic deaths. The group meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month from 7-8:30 p.m.
In addition, a free opioid education and prevention program will be held at 7 p.m. Feb. 20 at DeJohn Funeral Home, 12811 Chillicothe Road, Chester Township. Hear about the opioid crisis from medical professionals, individuals in recovery and family members with personal experiences. Registration is required.
