Senior Trash Pickup Days

Local city and township road crews will again work with the Geauga County Department on Aging employees and volunteers to offer trash pickup days for registered seniors 60 years and older.

First, seniors must register with the Department on Aging for 2021 at least one week prior to the pickup in order to be placed on the pickup roster.

All refuse items must be outside by garages, outbuildings or in the driveway the evening before the scheduled pickup. Do not leave items curbside. Local road crews and the department on aging staff cannot enter homes.

Trash pickup days are:

City of Chardon: Sept. 17. Sign up by Sept. 10.

Hambden Township: Sept. 24. Sign up by Sept. 17.

Middlefield Township: Oct. 1. Sign up by Sept. 24.

For specific allowable trash guidelines or to register for the pickup, call 440-279-2129. Please have a list of items needing removal.

Young of Heart

Sept. 3, 11:30 a.m.

Geauga Young of Heart will meet at St. Anselm’s Parish Center. Bring your brown bag lunch. Snacks and coffee will be provid- ed. Chester Township Police Chief Mark Pur- chase, who will be retiring next year, will be our speaker.

Meetings will again be on the first and third Friday of every month. Members from 2020 do not have to pay dues. However, any- one wishing to join for the remainder of this year may join for $10.

Advanced Directives

Sept. 14, 10-11 a.m.

The Geauga County Bar Association Advance Directives Committee and Hospice of the Western Reserve will present information and answer questions regarding health care powers of attorney and living wills at Chardon Senior Center.

They will distribute the standard forms and return Sept. 21 from 10-11 a.m. with attorneys from the Geauga Bar to help seniors complete the forms and notarize them, which will allow seniors time to think about what they personally want and who they would want speaking on their behalf if they are unable.

For more information, call 440-279-2130.
