Fall Market Days & Wagon Rides
Celebrate autumn at Swine Creek Reservation in Middlefield Township with handmade and locally produced items and food for sale, live music, free balloon creations, horse-drawn wagon rides, a nature scavenger hunt and more.
Homespun Market Days will be hosted Oct. 2 and 3, from 1-5 p.m. A list of vendors currently slated to attend is posted on the park district website. Attendees may head over to the sugarhouse drive to see if there’s space to take a horse-drawn wagon ride through the woods. Rides are first-come, first-served, with limited seating from 1-4 p.m.
Horse-drawn wagon rides will also be offered Oct. 16, 17, 23 and 24, from 1-5 p.m., with each day’s last ride departing at 4:30 p.m. Similar to the rides at Homespun Market Days, but without so many people vying for spots, free passes will ensure first-come, first-served boarding for these rides, each lasting about a half hour and cancelled by inclement weather. No pets, please.
Adults in the developmental disability community can also register for an Inclusive Fall Wagon Ride the morning of Oct. 13. Three time slots are available for the special naturalist-led rides.
Snake Search
Oct. 9, 1-3 p.m.
Join Naturalist Trevor Wearstler on a hearty Snake Search hoping to spot native snakes at The West Woods. The group will scout out different habitats that the snakes prefer. Exploration will stay mostly on trail, but good footwear is advised. Registration is required.
