Chicken Paprikash Dinner
May 19, 5-7 p.m.
Parkman Congregational Church is hosting a home-style chicken paprikash dinner with sides and dessert at the church located at 18265 Madison Road. Cost is $15, dine-in or carry out.
Free Fresh Produce
May 20, 9-11 a.m.
Newbury Community Church is hosting a fresh produce giveaway at 14916 Auburn Road. Cleveland FoodBank provides the service to low income Geauga County residents the third Saturday of each month through October. Please bring ID and bags.
DTJ Chicken and Duck Dinner
May 21, 12-2 p.m.
DTJ Taborville is having a chicken and duck dinner at 9850 North Blvd., Auburn Township. Frank Moravcik will provide music from 12:30-3:30 p.m.
Cost is $15 for an adult dinner and $8 for a children’s chicken dinner. A half duck dinner is $21. Dine in or take out.

Veterans Memorial Day Service

Russell Township Historical Society and trustees will hold their annual veterans Memorial Day service at Briar Hill Church located at the southwest corner of Chillicothe and Fairmount roads. Refreshments will be served.
Composting 101

The Geauga Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) will host Composting 101 at the Burton Library.
Learn composting basics and benefits, different composting methods and how to avoid common composting problems. Participants will have a chance to win a free compost bin.

Community Life Collaborative is hosting its second annual Garden Gala –“The Year of the Firefly” – at the Family Life Center, 16349 Chillicothe Road, Bainbridge Township. Join for an evening of dining, dancing, drinks, live music, raffle baskets, silent auction and fun.

Caveman Crawl
June 11, 7-11 a.m.
The Foundation for Geauga Parks presents the 12th annual Caveman Crawl at The West Woods in Russell Township.
The 5K trail run and 1 mile fun walk is a heart-pumping, costume-wearing, all-ages athletic event popular with competitive and casual runners, families and local nature lovers. Early registration is $25 at bit.ly/FGPcavemancrawl.
Day-of registration begins at 7 a.m. There is a costume contest at 8:30 a.m. The race steps off at 9 a.m. Unique awards will be handed out for winning runners and most creative costumes.

Purses and Pastries

Friends of WomenSafe will hold its eighth annual Purses and Pastries party at the Munson Township Hall, 12210 Auburn Road. Guests will enjoy brunch, a designer purse raffle, Bingo, fun purse exchange and more.
Bring a new or gently used purse with a wrapped $5 gift inside to participate in the purse exchange.
Cost is $30 for adults. Purchase a super ticket for $50 to receive three Bingo cards and 15 raffle tickets with admission.
All proceeds benefit WomenSafe, an organization that provides shelter and a variety of services to survivors of domestic violence.

Polka Golf Outing
Aug. 19
The National Cleveland-Style Polka Hall of Fame hosts the third annual polka golf outing at St. Denis Golf Course in Chardon. The four-person scramble with live polka music includes 18 holes of golf with a cart, beverage tickets, snacks and soda and dinner. There will be prizes, raffles and goody bags.
Check-in and lunch at 11:30 a.m. are followed by the shotgun start at 1 p.m. Cost is $115 per player or $460 per foursome. Sponsorship opportunities are available.
