Geauga Dems Collect Signatures

June 10 and 11, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Geauga Democratic Party will be collecting signatures for the reproductive freedom petition at 12420 Kinsman Road, Newbury Township; at Chardon Square by the gazebo; and at the South Russell Medical Building, 5192 Chillicothe Road. Caveman Crawl

June 11

The Foundation for Geauga Parks presents the 12th annual Caveman Crawl at The West Woods in Russell Township.

The 5K trail run and 1-mile fun walk is a heart-pumping, costume-wearing, all-ages athletic event popular with competitive and casual runners, families and local nature lovers.

Registration begins at 7 a.m. There is a costume contest at 8:30 a.m. The race steps off at 9 a.m.

Buckeye Road Reunion Picnic

June 11, 12-6 p.m.

The Hungarian Cultural Center of Northeastern Ohio will co-host its Buckeye Road Nationalities Reunion Picnic at the club grounds located at 12027 Abbott Road, Hiram. Admission is $5, youth under 12 are free.

Church Collecting Sneakers

The First Congregational Church of Claridon is collecting used sneakers to support its sanctuary repair and renovation. Place used sneakers in the bin under the portico at the back door of the church located at the corner of state Route 322 and Claridon Troy Road in Claridon Township. Sneakers only, please.

Concert On The Square

June 13, 7 p.m.

Thompson Township begins its free summer concert series on the square with the Chardon Polka Band. In the event of rain, the concert will be relocated to the Thompson United Methodist Church gym.

Bring a lawn chair or blanket. Well-behaved pets are welcome.

Third Thursday Business Social

Chester, Russell and Newbury area businesses may register for West Geauga Chamber of Commerce’s Third Thursday Business Social at Geauga West Library for a “Who Done It?” networking event. Coffee and donuts are provided.

Outreach Spaghetti Dinner

June 15, 6-7 p.m.

Christ Presbyterian Church offers free drive-thru spaghetti and meatball dinners the third Thursday of each month. Salad and dessert are included. The church is located at 12419 Chillicothe Road in Chester Township.

CV Herb Society Meets

June 16, 12:30 p.m.

The Chagrin Valley Herb Society will meet at the Bainbridge Library, 17222 Snyder Road. Geauga Park District Naturalist Denise Wolfe will speak about bees and native pollinators.

Community Fishing Derby

Munson Township’s annual community Fishing Derby is open to all Munson Township residents. Join for a morning of fishing fun at the Scenic River Retreat, 10900 Mayfield Road. Bring a fishing pole – catch and release only. Bait will be provided. Door prizes awarded.

RockAbility Auditions

June 24 and 26

RockAbility, an adaptive, integrated music project for musicians with developmental disabilities, is holding auditions for musicians with developmental disabilities at Metzenbaum/West Geauga Schools Transportation Building located at 8615 Cedar Road, Chester Township. The auditions require registration. Auditions start at 2 p.m. on June 24 and 7 p.m. June 26.

Trash And Scrap Tire Collection

Troy Township will host its annual trash and scrap tire collection event in the parking lot behind the Troy Township Community House, 13950 Main Market Road. Tires and trash only; no hazardous materials or liquids will be accepted. Collection is for township residents only.
