American Red Cross stresses the critical need for blood products to ensure patient care. Donors of all blood types are asked to give now to keep blood supply levels rising after a summer shortage.

Donation appointments may be made by downloading the free Blood Donor app, visitingRedCrossBlood.org or calling 1-800-733-2767.

Help for Mental Illness

NAMI Geauga offers mental health support groups and classes for families and persons affected by mental illness. There is no charge to participants. All offerings are 100% peer led and meet in person or on Zoom.

Bras For A Cause

University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center will celebrate breast cancer survivors during the ninth “Bras for a Cause” fundraiser. The celebration of survivorship returns during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, after a hiatus during the pandemic.

 It will be hosted by the UH Geauga Medical Center Auxiliary at the Sisters of Notre Dame Community Hall at 1300 Auburn Road in Chardon. Doors open at 10:30 a.m. and the charity event runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased for $15 by calling or visiting the Wish-U-Well gift shop at 440-285-6039. All proceeds will benefit patient needs at the UH Seidman Cancer Center at UH Geauga Medical Center.

Space is limited and pre-registration is suggested by Oct. 1. All decorated items must be turned in at the Wish-U-Well gift shop by Oct. 7.
