Pumpkin Festival

Huntsburg Township hosts its 54th annual Pumpkin Festival at the intersection of state routes 322 and 528. There is no entrance fee and all contests, entertainment, attractions and activities are free. There is also free parking and a free shuttle service from the parking areas to the festival grounds.
The Pumpkin Festival parade is scheduled for 2:15 p.m. on Oct. 6, with a pancake breakfast served each day from 8:30-11:30 a.m.

Tree Planting

Join Master Gardener Volunteers Mirko Antloga and Deb Miller for “There is More to Planting a Tree Than Just Digging a Hole,” an in-depth look at picking a tree or trees, site selection, soil testing, site preparation, planting procedure and required future care and maintenance for optimum success. Included will also be a discussion on which trees and companion plantings will enhance the biodiversity of one’s property.
The free class will be held in the Patterson Center at the Geauga County Extension Office, 14269 Claridon-Troy Road, Burton.

Pet Blessing & Care Fair
Oct. 6, 12-2 p.m.
Celebration Lutheran Church will host a pet blessing and care fair for companion animals and service animals in the parking lot of the church located at 10621 Auburn Road, Chardon. The fair will be held indoors if the weather is inclement. Attendees will also receive a goodie bag.
Bring pet food donations for local pet food banks. Visit with representatives from area rescue and animal therapy organizations.

Trunk or Treat

Geauga County Sherriff’s Office will host its annual Trunk or Treat at 12450 Merritt Road, Chardon. The event is free.
