Advance Directives Workshops

The Geauga County Bar Association Advance Directives Committee and Hospice of the Western Reserve will offer free workshops on health care powers of attorney and living wills, with distribution of standard forms.

The first session will be held Oct. 2 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Middlefield Senior Center, with attorneys returning Oct. 9 to help complete the forms and notarize them.

A second session will take place Oct. 16 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Bainbridge Senior Center, with attorneys returning Oct. 23 for completion and notarization.

To reserve a space, call the Middlefield Senior Center at 440-632-0611 or the Bainbridge Senior Center at 440-279-1313. Half hour appointments will be assigned for the signing day.

Diabetes Self-Management Class

A free six-week self-management class that focuses on diabetes will be held Thursdays, Oct. 9 through Nov. 13, from 1-3:30 p.m. at the West Geauga Senior Center, 8090 Cedar Road in Chester Township. Seniors 60 years of age and older will get the support they need, find practical ways to deal with pain, fatigue and sugar control, discover better nutrition and exercise choices, understand new treatment choices and learn better ways to communicate with doctors and family about their health.
