The West Geauga Schools Board of Education approved the design-build contract March 16 with Cold Harbor Building Company for the new water treatment plant and maintenance facility.
Board President Pam Claypool asked whether the board could retain the ability to make changes throughout the process, which Superintendent Nancy Benincasa confirmed.
“We’ll definitely have plenty of opportunity for board input,” she said.
Vice President Bill Beers added the board will also be able to modify the design.
Once Cold Harbor completes the design and the board approved it, construction will begin, said Treasurer Karen Pavlat in a follow-up interview.
“Cold Harbor will start the design of the facility now that the contract has been approved by the board at the March meeting,” she added.
The project is expected to be completed by July 29, 2027, in time for the 2027-2028 school year.
