CFMS Kick-It Campaign
Chagrin Falls Middle School students banded together to raise $4,140.22 for childhood cancer research this year in the annual Kick-It for Cancer.
The successful effort culminated in the annual Awards Ceremony on Friday, May 8, celebrating students’ hard work in keeping “Kick-It for Cancer” alive. The money raised came from a mix of online donations and sales of shirts and bandanas.
The Kick-It program was founded in Chagrin Falls by Quinn Clarke, who was only 10 years old when he asked for a kickball game to raise funds during his second fight with cancer. Today, Kick-It is a national volunteer effort that raises money solely for childhood cancer research through the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. The goals are to continue Clarke’s mission and show support for families battling the disease.
In this year’s competition, advisory classes competed for the top spot. The grand winner, Mrofchak’s Advisory Class, was named the Overall Kick-It Champion. The class was the top fundraiser, collecting $1,195, and was also crowned the Kickball Champion.
As their reward, students in Mrofchak’s Advisory Class won the right to keep the Kick-It trophy for the year and a trip to The Popcorn Shop for ice cream.
