Kenston High School was closed late Tuesday morning after a bomb threat message was found scribbled on the wall of a boy’s rest room.
Katy McGrath, community relations director, said a student reported the message to high school officials who immediately called Bainbridge Township police.
On the arrival of police, classes were dismissed, students were sent to the high school gymnasium and a search commensed.
Geauga County Sheriff’s Lt. John Hiscox said Deputy Mike Matsik and his trained bomb-sniffing canine, Marco, were sent to the high school to assist in the search.
Parents were notified about 12:45 p.m., McGrath said.
Students who could drive left school, while others either were bused home or their parents picked them up at the high school, she said.
“We did a complete sweep of school and didn’t find a thing,” said Bainbridge Police Chief Jon Bokovitz, who added the incident remains under investigation.
All other Kenston schools remained open, McGrath said, adding Kenston Schools was the only Geauga County school district not closed Tuesday because of snowy and frigid weather.
Kenston High School resumed classes Wednesday while all other school districts in Geauga County were closed again due to weather.
