Mennonite Meat Canning Project Benefit Dinner

Middlefield First United Methodist Church is hosting the Mennonite Meat Canning Project benefit dinner July 20 from 4:30-6:30 p.m.

The barbecue chicken dinner benefits the mobile meat canning project, a cooperative ministry where in one day thousands of pounds of turkey are cooked and canned for distribution to the hungry locally and around the world. The cost of bringing the mobile canning equipment is supported by donations, churches and benefits.

Cost is $10 for adults and $6 for children 10 and under.

Gospel Ministry and Song

Gospel singer and former area minister Linda Ross Weber, an Orwell High School graduate, returns to her roots for two services July 20. She will minister at the Ladies Christian Aglow meeting at 9:30 a.m. at the Middlefield Senior Center.

Then, she will sing and minister at the 6 p.m. service at Newbury Full Gospel Church in Kiwanis Lake.

Both services are free and open to the public; however, a free will offering will be taken for Linda whose husband is battling lung cancer.

Lets Grow VBS at Burton CC

Vacation Bible School for children in preschool through sixth grade will be held at the Burton Congregational Church July 29 through Aug. 1 from 6:30-8 p.m. The theme is “Let’s Grow” and will explore Jesus’ parables of seeds and growing.

All children are welcome to attend for learning and fun. The program will include songs, stories, games, crafts and snacks.

Kingdom Rock VBS

First United Methodist Church of Middlefield is holding Kingdom Rock Vacation Bible School July 22-25 for children 4 years old through sixth grade.

The free program takes campers on an epic adventure where they learn that Gods victorious power is no fairy tale through games, singing, science fun, theater and cooking.

St. Lukes VBS for Seniors

Chardon Ministerial Association and Northeast Mission Area Council are hosting the first annual Vacation Bible School for senior citizens at St. Luke Episcopal Church, 11519 Wilson Mills Road in Chardon. It will be held July 23-26, from 9:30 a.m. to noon.

Pilgrims Hay Day VBS

Pilgrim Christian Church will hold Hay Day Bible school Aug. 3 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The one-day program is for children 3 years old through fifth grade. Lunch is included.

Chardon Baptist VBS

A free Vacation Bible School will be held at Chardon Baptist Church, 363 Wilson Mills Road, July 28 through Aug. 1, each evening from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

This years theme, Investigation Destination Following Clues to the King of Kings, will include Bible stories, music, games, puppets, skits, crafts and snacks.

All children who have finished kindergarten through sixth grade are invited to attend. An adult class will also be provided.

Celebrate Recovery

Morning Star Friends Church in Chardon will be hosting Celebrate Recovery, a Christ-centered 12-step program that uses the 12 steps from Alcoholics Anonymous. The core of the program is based on eight principles for healing that are formulated from the Beatitudes in the Bibles book of Matthew.

The program is supported by Geauga Municipal Court Judge Terri Stupica for persons ordered by the court to attend a 12 step or addiction recovery program. Meetings are held every Wednesday at 7 p.m. with a meal and fellowship prior to the meeting beginning at 6:15 p.m.

Starting the week of July 14, the program will add three step study groups. One group is for men only on Sundays at 9 a.m. beginning July 14. The other groups are for women only; one group will meet Sundays at 9 a.m. beginning July 14 and the second will meet on Mondays at 7 p.m. beginning July 15.

Celebrate Recovery at Morning Star Friends Church is open to the believer and nonbeliever.

God Shares a Meal

First United Methodist Church of Middlefield hosts free meals to the community the last Friday of each month. The next God Shares a Meal will take place July 26 from 4-6:30 p.m.

All are welcome. The church is handicap accessible.
