Family First Council
Geauga Family First Council will meet at 2:30 p.m. May 20 at Geauga County Job & Family Services building, 12480 Ravenna Road, Chardon.
Meetings take place on the third Monday of the month (except legal holidays) with the location alternating between the Geauga County Job & Family Services and the Geauga County Board of Mental Health and Recovery Services building. Meetings are open to the public.

Bloodmobile
American Red Cross blood donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. Donors may give every 56 days and must bring some form of photo identification and a list of all current medications.

Flu Shots
Lake Health is offering seasonal flu shots for $20 at the following locations:
• Chardon Campus, 510 Fifth Ave., Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• The Clinic at Middlefield, located inside Wal-Mart Supercenter, 15050 Springdale Ave., Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, noon to 6 p.m.
No appointment is necessary. Individuals must be 18 years of age or older to receive the seasonal flu vaccine at our centers. The influenza vaccination is covered by Medicare.

Blood Pressure Screening
Lake Health will offer free blood pressure checks at the Chardon Campus, 510 Fifth Ave., from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday; and at the Middlefield Clinic located inside Wal-Mart Supercenter, 15050 Springdale Ave., from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, and from noon to 6 p.m., Sunday.
2013 Immunization Clinics
The Geauga County General Health District offers childrens and adolescent immunization clinics. The Health District has always provided immunizations free of charge, but federal changes are coming. For now, it is still able to provide immunizations for children through the age of 18.

• Newbury, May 22, Grace Evangelical Bible Church, 14951 Auburn Road, 9-11:30 a.m.

Senior Connection
Lake Health will offer Senior Connection May 29 from noon to 1 p.m. in St. Denis Party Center, 10660 Chardon Road in Chardon.
The Lunch and Learn program features a variety of topics dealing with seniors. Mays topic is Aging: When the Inside Doesnt Match the Outside.
Lunch is $2. Registration is required by calling Lake Health’s Best of Health Line at 440-953-6000.
Effects of Trauma Workshop
The Geauga Board of Mental Health and Recovery Services has obtained a nationally know speaker to present a workshop on the effects of trauma. This workshop will be of interest to all who work with children and adults affected by a traumatic event.
The workshop will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 21 and 22 at Fowler’s Mill Golf Course. The cost for Geauga County workers and residents is $50 per day. The workshop will afford attendees six CEUs for each day.
This workshop is the first part of a four-day workshop. The following two days will be presented later in the summer. The four days are a requirement for those wishing to obtain Trauma Informed Certification.
