Spelling Bee Competition

The district spelling bee was held Jan. 18 at Burton Elementary. Seventeen students from the junior/senior high school and Burton Elementary competed.

The district winner was seventh-grader Aiden Burkley.

Congratulations go out to all of the students that qualified for the district competition. Thank you Mrs. Ducca, Mrs. Randles and Mrs. Arnold for organizing the spelling bee.

Participants were: fourth-graders Carly Snow, Carson Jones and Bianca Ramos; fifth-graders Lizzy Dingman, Kayla Dingman, Nathan Snyderburn and Lenny Barcikoski; sixth-graders Brennan Stivers, Alan Ward, Sam Roach, Caitlin Wendl and Nate Maglott; seventh-graders Hunter Delp, Aiden Burkley and Nick Aldridge; and eighth-graders Justin Polzer, Kayl Holschuh and Katy Moses.

Science Olympiad Team Excels

The Berkshire Junior High Science Olympiad team competed against 26 teams in the Kenston Invitational on Jan. 19. Berkshire placed third in the Heredity/Genetics event and second in the Write it Do it event, 10th in the Mousetrap Vehicle, 13th in Mission Possible and 13th in Experimental Design.

The students compete again at the regional event at CWRU in February.
