Spring Trash Day
After a couple of years of lighter than usual trash days, trustees were beginning to wonder if Hambden was nearly cleaned up and trash days would be a thing of the past. Guess what? This year really proved that theory to be wrong.
The park was jammed and the road crew did an amazing job of keeping the traffic moving along. Trustees are glad that residents are taking advantage of this opportunity and that the township can continue to provide the service.
Township Hall Renovations
Anyone who has been in the township hall lately probably has noticed the work going on. The restrooms are currently under renovation, which means that township hall is down to one restroom being in use at a time during the process.
The men’s room is nearly done and the ladies’ room should take about 10 days to complete. Trustees are sorry for any inconvenience to those using the hall but the end result should definitely be worth the short-term hassle.
Fire Department Rib Dinner
A Mother’s Day tradition continues. On May 12, the Hambden Fire Department will be cooking dinner for mom. Dinner includes St. Louis pork spareribs, potato wedges, beans, coleslaw and a drink. Cost is $13 for a half slab dinner or $16 for a full slab.
Tickets can be purchased from any Hambden firefighter or by calling the fire department at 440-285-3329. Dinners will be ready for pickup from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Reservation deadline is May 6.
Hambden Community Picnic
The first picnic meeting was held last week and as I told you, we are on our way. The planning committee has booked the entertainment and decided on prizes. Kim Fox is the Chinese auction chairperson. The fire department will be cooking as well as heading up the children’s games.
Residents are still needed to help with the picnic. Donations are also needed for the Chinese auction.
There will be another meeting on May 15 at 5:30 p.m. at the township hall. We’d love to have you join us.
