Senior Awards Night 2013
Berkshire High School held its senior awards ceremony the evening of May 20. Scholarships and awards were presented to students from Rotary, the Burton and Troy chambers of commerce, the Geauga Growth Partnership, American Legion, Kiwanis, Marines, Air Force, Auburn Career Center, Board of Education, Berkshire Education Association, Yoder Brothers, Miller scholarship, Tucker scholarship and high school department awards. Over $600,000 in scholarship money has been awarded to the class of 2013.
Special thanks goes to Miss Bagaglia, Mr. Reedy, the high school staff and SPTO for organizing this event.
Burton Artwork Auction
An idea from down under will help Burton Elementary classroom technologies rise up in the future.
The school’s Parent Teacher Organization hosted an art show fundraiser at Burton Elementary School on May 17. For an hour and a half, community members, schoolchildren and their parents toured the school and saw displays of individual artwork.
They bid on that artwork, along with three specially created canvases made by students, during an 8 p.m. silent auction. Participants also bid on collaborative thumbprint creations from each class.
