Morning Star Friends Church will hold a Thanksgiving dinner for those in need of a caring place Nov. 28 from noon to 2 p.m.
For information, call 440-286-2510. The church is located at 12550 Ravenna Road in Chardon. Transportation is available upon request.
St. Anselm’s Catholic Church in Chesterland will serve its annual Thanksgiving dinner from noon to 3 p.m. on Nov. 28. There will be music and door prizes given away throughout the event. A freewill donation will be accepted. No reservations are needed and take-outs are available. All are welcome.
Optometrist Open House
The public is invited to an open house Dr. Marilyn George’s optometrist office located at 100 Parker Court in Chardon on Nov. 21.
Visitors will meet Dr. Bianca Kostranchuk, the expanded staff and hear about their extended services and hours.
A wide variety of designer frames and sunglasses will be on sale. There will be discounts, refreshments, raffles, samples and more.

Cleats has been open in Chardon four years and will be celebrating with cake and more on Nov. 27, from 9 p.m. until closing.

Cookie Walk In Claridon
The First Congregational Church of Claridon is holding its annual cookie walk Dec. 7 at 13942 Mayfield Road. Open to the public, the walk begins at 9 a.m. and will go until the cookies are gone.
Cost is $7 per pound; boxes provided. Come early for the best selection.
Birthday Wishes
Happy birthday wishes go to Erica Penttila, one of my former Chardon High School varsity tennis players. She celebrated her birthday last week in New York City with some of her friends.
Her parents joined so many others who turned out for the very successful Pilgrim Christian Church steeple fundraiser dinner held Nov. 16.
My friend Travis Wilcox has a birthday to celebrate, too, as does the Honorable Judge Coleen O’Toole. Best wishes to all and wishes for many more to come.
