Berkshire Awarded State Grant

Berkshire been awarded a grant from the Ohio Board of Regents for the McGraw Hill’s My Math and Wonder Literacy eTextbook. The grant will be piloted at Burton Elementary during the 2014-15 and 2015-16 school years.

The announcement from the Ohio Board of Regents is: “We are pleased to report that the Ohio Board of Regents will be able to meet Berkshire’s grant request for McGraw Hill’s My Math and Wonder Literacy. Please be aware that this eTextbook pilot is for this 2014-2015 school year and next school year 2015-2016 only. In the next week or two, you will receive an award confirmation email from iLearn and the Chancellor of the Ohio Board of Regents which will provide instructions for next steps.”

2014 Homecoming Court

Congratulations to the Berkshire High School students who were selected be homecoming attendants: freshmen Amy Pfiester and Jared Hinkle; sophomores Gabby Skolaris and David Tucek; and juniors Kieran Wichert and Barrett Jackson.

Queen candidates include: Suzanne Koziol, Megan Arnold, Grace Noce, Alex Berman and Sam Jackson. King candidates are: Mitch Freeman, Vince Noce, Tommy Fabian, RJ Maxwell and Luke Byler.

Longo Scholarship Awarded

Senior Christin Dornback was awarded the Longo Homecoming Scholarship during the homecoming assembly on Oct. 24. Principal Steve Reedy presented the check to Christin at the end of the assembly.

Mrs. Longo, a 1968 graduate of Berkshire High School, initiated the scholarship two years ago in order to help a senior student with his or her post secondary education. Students who apply have to write an essay on a topic selected by Mrs. Longo. All of the applications are reviewed by Mrs. Longo and the winner is selected by her as well.
